liturgy

Worship at Calvary should always be an experience where you are welcomed warmly, invited into thoughtful engagement with the sacred text, offered the opportunity to hear and make beautiful music, and sent out into the world to love your neighbors.  We generally have liturgically high worship style—most Sundays you’ll hear our large pipe organ played and see our ministers wearing robes.  We’re always working to create space for meaningful and relevant worship, though, so don’t be surprised if your worship experience includes a Johnny Cash video or a beautiful hula danced in celebration. As followers seeking to grow in relationship with God, we know that worship week in and week out is a spiritual discipline.

When you choose to practice the spiritual discipline of regular worship at Calvary you’ll soon find ways in which you are not just attending worship but also participating in creating it—lay worship leadership is an important part of our theological conviction that we all have a part to play in the worship of God.   Most of all, whenever we gather for worship as the family of Christ here at Calvary Baptist Church, we pray that heartfelt encounter with God happens—somehow.
