el salvador

Ever since Rev. Edgar Palacios joined the Calvary staff in 2005, El Salvador has had a special place in the hearts of our church members.  Calvary recently sent ashalom scholarship.JPG team of 11 individuals on a mission trip to El Salvador with the task of learning how to be better partners and neighbors with our fellow Christians there and with our fellow Latino members here in Washington, DC. The team returned with a renewed sense of mission and God's work in the world, and our congregation has greatly benefited from the team's enthusiasm. We hope to send a second team to El Salvador in the spring of 2011.  See some photos and reflections from our mission trip blog!

shalom scholarship

Each year, Calvary holds a luncheon in order to raise scholarship money to sendme and Armando and one of his younger brothers and his mother.jpg students in El Salvador to school who normally would be unable to afford the cost of tuition. Through this program, Salvadoran students can continue their education and pursue their life goals.  This year's Shalom Scholarship Luncheon was a wonderful success, with two of our scholarship students in attendance and sharing with us about their studies and how God is at work in their lives.  Click here to donate to the scholarship fund.

Calvary also supports several global Baptist organizations.
